Mike was born in Austin, Texas, and spent eight years in Europe while his father was stationed in England and Germany with the United States Air Force before living in Mountain Home and then Boise, Idaho. Mike earned his bachelor’s in international politics from Brigham Young University and master’s in Business Administration from the University of Colorado. While at BYU, Mike received a full-ride scholarship from the university’s Air Force ROTC program, then followed in his father’s footsteps, receiving a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force.
Mike joined SELCO in July 2025 after a 20-year career in the federal government. During this time, he did stints as an intelligence officer for the Air Force as well as an intelligence analyst for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Away from work, Mike and his four children enjoy playing games, going to the movies, and exploring all the beauty that Oregon has to offer. He loves all things track and field and considers Hayward Field in Eugene his home away from home. He also regularly volunteers at his church.
